Development of Early Years Workforce - Senior Early Childhood Practitioners (ECPS)
You will be aware that the Scottish Government is committed to expanding the provision of funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) from 600 hours to 1140 hours by 2020. The expansion of ELC has significant implications for the workforce required to deliver 1140 hours ELC. As part of the workforce development there will be increased career opportunities for Senior ECPs.
To support the development of interested staff we are repeating the exciting programme of four training days which was delivered last year and was very well received by those that attended.
The programme will promote leadership skills and will cover the following:
- Creating a Motivating Environment in Early Years and Childcare Thursday 25th April Perth Grammar Wing
- Leading Pedagogy in Early Years and Childcare Friday 17th May Perth Grammar Wing
- Leading Learning Spaces in Early Learning and Childcare Thursday 13th June Council Chambers 2 High Street Perth
There will be an expectation that course participants will carry out related tasks between the sessions and these will be brought to and shared at the next session.
The fourth session will be delivered by Perth and Kinross HR colleagues and will cover the management and support of staff.
The cost of supply cover for four days will be wired to the school budget.
Places are limited and so priority will be given to practitioners who have completed or are working towards additional qualifications that will allow registration as a lead practitioner with SSSC.
Please share this information with relevant nursery staff.
Names and qualifications (either completed or in process) of interested ECPs should be sent to EarlyIntervention@pkc.gov.uk by Friday 15 February.
Confirmation of places will be sent to Headteachers by Friday 1st March.
If you have any queries regarding the above please contact either myself or Aileen Innes Education Support Officer 0-8, or Pauline Linn, Education Support Officer 0-8.
